EXPEDITION OVERVIEW
Every year tens of thousands of Mobula Rays migrate into the Sea of Cortez along the Baja coast for the purpose of feeding and mating during the months of April through June. It is considered as one of the ocean wonders of the world. These mobula rays are famously known for jumping out the water and splashing, almost like popcorn sounds.
On this expedition, we will be spending 6-8hrs out at sea. During this time of the year, not only are we able to witness massive fevers of mobula rays, but it is possible to find sea lion colonies, pods of dolphins by the thousands, blue whales, fin whales, sperm whales, humpback whales, whale sharks, and orcas.
With so much going on, we will be hiring a spotter plane for 2 days out of the trip to help us cover more ground and increase our chances of an amazing encounter
As important as experiencing the presence of these animals, it is also important to understand the conservation efforts that made this place what it is today. We will have a biologist come and provide a class showing proper ways to interact with the animals and answer any questions you may have regarding their research.
As you join us for this special expedition, we ask that you come with an open mind. The ocean has her unique ways of showing the most amazing encounters in the most unexpected moments. After all, this is the beauty of nature where nothing is ever guaranteed and the same reason we do not support captivity.
